Levi Colwill praises Cole Palmer as an outstanding team-mate for Chelsea

Levi Colwill thinks that calling Cole Palmer “scary good” is a fitting description for his Chelsea team-mate.

This week, Palmer’s face has been featured on posters with that phrase all over New York as part of a Nike advertising campaign leading up to Sunday’s Club World Cup final.

This highlights the quick rise of the 23-year-old since he left his role as a squad player at Manchester City to join Stamford Bridge almost two years ago.

”It’s incredible to see him all around New York,” shared defender Colwill before the big match against Paris St Germain at the MetLife Stadium this weekend. “It feels surreal, and I’m happy for him.”

When asked if Palmer truly is “scary good”, Colwill responded, “Definitely! He’s a fantastic player. That poster suits him perfectly.”

Despite this, Palmer is known for being humble and seems to be handling the attention well.

Colwill mentioned, “I think he’s seen the posters, but you know Cole – he doesn't get too carried away, and I believe that's what keeps him going.”

Colwill is confident that Chelsea are not afraid as they head into a match where they are considered the clear underdogs.

PSG has been dominating in recent months, winning three domestic titles, including a league and cup double. Luis Enrique’s team also impressed by defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final in May and achieving a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Colwill stated, “PSG is an impressive team, but we are not Inter or Real Madrid. We bring a different approach. We have our unique qualities, and we believe in ourselves to secure the win.

“It’s just one game. I have faith in our team, and I think we can overcome any opponent, so we will carry that confidence into the match.

“We didn't come here just to reach the final; we aim to win the tournament.”

Chelsea has already achieved success this season by winning the Europa Conference League.

Colwill remarked, “That victory gives us a boost. This will be our second final of the season, showing our progress. We truly trust in our abilities.

“If everyone expects us to lose, then we have nothing to lose. We will go out there, play our style of football, have confidence, and hopefully, surprise everyone.”
